UNION MEETING:  The next scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m. at 7920 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor, MI.  Members are urged to attend and take an active part in the proceedings.

2011 INCOME TAX INFORMATION:  Based on total hours worked in 2011, your dues check off is as follows:

          Building Trades – Journeymen:

          1/1/11 to 5/31/11:  $1.38 per hour

          6/1/11 to 12/31/11: $1.43 per hour

          Annual union dues paid:  $312.00

IMPORTANT NOTICE – MONTHLY UNION DUES INCREASE EFFECTIVE 1/1/12:

Per Capita dues effective January 1, 2012, will be increased $2.00 per month by the United Association.

Dues for members of Local 190, effective January 1, 2012 will be as follows:                              Active members               $28.00 per month

Retired members             $22.00 per month

*Members who have reached age 65 before January 1, 2002, dues will remain frozen at $15 rate per month.

*Members who reach age 65 between January 1, 2002 and December 31, 2006, dues will remain frozen at $19 rate per month.

*Members who reach age 65 between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2011 dues will remain frozen at $20 rate per month.

*Members who reach age 65 after December 31, 2011, dues will decrease to $20 per month commencing the first month following the month in which the member reaches age 65.

VOLUNTEER HOURS:  If you volunteer your time and talent, please contact the hall to report the total hours in which you have volunteered.  We will be reporting these hours on a quarterly basis to the United Way.

BUILDING TRADES MEMBERS - Laid Off:   All members who get laid off please contact Karen at the union hall (734) 424-0962 ext. #212 or Mike at (734) 424-0962 ext #213, to report the last day in which you worked.  You will then be reported on the out of work list.  This report is used to generate sub pay checks, if you are eligible.  If you received a lay off slip from a contractor please stop by the hall or send a copy to Karen, she will then put a copy in your member file.

Gas Distribution MEMBERS FOR OHIO & MICHIGAN:  Please contact Karen at the union hall (734) 424-0962 ext. 212 when you are laid off or report back to work.   You will then be reported on the out of work list.  This report is used to generate sub pay checks, if you are eligible.

ATTENTION ALL BUILDING TRADE  MEMBERS:  If you are interested in traveling, please contact Mike McGovern at (734) 424-0962 ext #213.

IMPORTANT SUB PLAN CHANGE:  The Trustees have decided effective with benefit payouts starting in July of 2011 it will be mandatory that all sub payments be direct deposit.  The Fringe Benefit office has mailed the direct deposit form to our members. This form must be filled out and returned to the Fringe Benefit Office.  If you should have any questions or need this form please contact Bernadette Maus at (734) 432-3042.

VERY IMPORTANT - ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:  Each time you report back to work you must present to the contractor the following documents.  This is a Federal requirement.  If you do not present the following documents within a 24 hour period you will be terminated.

One of the following original documents:  social security card,

 birth certificate or passport

          You must also have your driver license:

 

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:  Those of you, who have taken the time to acquire additional certifications, please contact Retha at the training center (734) 426-3700.  She will then input the certifications in our computer system, making sure your records are current.  Having all of your current certifications in our computer system is extremely important, as Business Agent Mike McGovern uses this information to fill calls.

FRINGE BENEFIT OFFICE:   On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. a representative will be available to meet with members at the union hall (February 8, 15 & 22, 2012).   

 

WEBSITE -  ua190benefits.org:  The website of ua190benefits.org is an extremely informative website for all members.  For members that have not yet created a password, please follow the instructions below.  

1)   Retrieve website:  ua190benefits.org

2)   Then select:  Member Login

3)    Then select:  Register  (you will then fill in the information requested, be sure to have your UA card number)

This is a very useful tool, as you are able to research your dues balance and history for the past year, job dispatch history, hours history and contributions, health contributions, pension contributions, sub contributions, sub check register, 401(k) contributions, IHRA contributions and you are able to view the complete out of work list and see your placement number.

 

RETIREE MEETINGS ***PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN BREAKFAST LOCATION*** Both Spades and Classic Cup meetings start at 9:00 A.M.  All retirees are welcome to attend.  A Spade meeting will take place on March 1st at the union hall.   Come join us for a card game, pastries and a warm cup of coffee.  The breakfast meeting is scheduled for February 16th at the Classic Cup Café located at 4389 Jackson Rd. Ann Arbor. 

 

GET WELL WISHES:  Get well wishes are extended to Brother Jerry Eaton who is facing a big challenge with kidney failure.  We wish him the best in his battle against this disease.  Our support and prayers are extended to the Eaton Family in dealing with this new challenge.

 

CONDOLENCES:  Our deepest sympathy goes out to Brother Ronald Perreault on the loss of his father Brother Gordon Perreault age 85.  Brother Gordon Perreault was a member of Local 190 for 43 years and had been retired for 20 years.  The many years he has lived will leave a fond memory to everyone who knew him.  May God Bless the Perreault Family during this difficult time they are enduring.
